The Passionate Pursuit of Dreams

September 21, 2011 Leave a comment

I, growing up in the Y generation, have noticed a gradual decline that slips further every generation in courage and dreaming ability. More importantly, many people I grew up with, only in their mid twenties, has already given up hope. As children we grow up with amazing dreams: if you grow up athletic, you’re going to the big leagues, if you grow up along side your dad.. you’ll be the hero you perceive him to be, if you’re a young girl.. you may want to be a famous actress and live a prosperous life. Maybe you grew up in a church every Sunday and grew up saying you will change this world and make it a better place for everyone in it. Somewhere along the lines that changed for most of us. Life became tougher, we realized we didn’t have the optimal physiology for pro sports, we came from a small town with no media exposure, or we just took enough negative media to the point where the word great, in our vocabulary, was permanently replaced by the word good.

The specifics of individual dreams are far less important than the growing problem, epidemic in my opinion. {dictionary.com defines an epidemic this way: a disease affecting many persons at the same time, and spreading from person to person in a locality where the disease is not permanently prevalent} In today’s society our economies, media and lack of people preaching courage, strength and pursuit has created its own dreamers disease. As they say if you hang out with bank robbers, eventually you’ll rob a bank, or at least drive away the getaway car.. it also stands true that if you hang out with people that pretend they never dreamed, you’ll follow suit or at least rationalize, make excuses and shrink our dreams down to meet our reality so we can reach them without changing or striving.

The absolute difference between those in hot pursuit of their dreams and those who have surrendered them is courage. Don’t let that statement label you though.. we have all been beaten down and taken a knee at some point in our lives, but life is amazing in the sense that we have unlimited restarts. My policy in life has become this: If my feet hit the floor in the morning, I’ve got a chance. If you look at the majority of people who have achieved great things in their lives, they did not come from ideal backgrounds. Michael Jordan was cut from his high school varsity football team, Colonel Sanders started KFC in his 60’s after several years of failed business, and Thomas Edison may have stated it best when he said: “I have not failed. I’ve just found 10,000 ways it won’t work. I challenge you to think back to your childhood and remember those dreams.. apply them to your life today and ask yourself what if. Be careful not to let our habitual thinking limit the possibility. “Nothing happens unless FIRST a dream” -Carl Sandburg

L.I.F.E.- What, Why and When?

September 20, 2011 Leave a comment

Welcome to my brand new blog, and this is my first post. You may have noticed that the title of the blog includes the acronym “L.I.F.E.” and wonder what I mean by it, so with explaining what it is, you will understand the purpose behind my whole blog. In March of 2008 I ‘signed up in a business’ and over the past couple of years I learned that I ‘got in’ to get rich, but what I didn’t know is that I stayed around to get right. My blog has nothing to do with business, however, but with the purpose that it gave to my life that I can hopefully share with others. When I entered the business world directly out of university, I saw huge numbers and decided that I had nothing to  lose so I might as well try to get rich. For the first few months that is all it was, and I apologize to anyone who may have gotten that impression from me if we talked in my first few months. After the novelty and hype of starting my own business wore off, what I found is that there were many many areas of my life that I may have hurt some people, offended some people and possibly even ended friendships totally oblivious to my own ignorance. It was time to change. Luckily this business I was involved in has, in MY opinion, the most valuable training material on the planet in form of price point versus validity, applicability and integrity. Once I allowed the material to change me, it totally changed the reason my feet hit the floor in the morning. The information I received internally and the books I was referred to external to our organisation have delivered a bank of knowledge I don’t wish to preach as my own, but to direct people to with a concrete security in my heart that it will change their lives as well.

For almost two decades, this material has been circulated within our organisation and changed many many lives, and on November 1st, 2011, it will be available to the general public for the first time in the organisation’s history. L.I.F.E. is an acronym standing for ‘Living Intentionally For Excellence,’ and that is simply one making the choice to embrace better information than society’s standard and starting to choose how their life is directed instead of rationalizing or accepting the “well I just wasn’t born into the right family” mentality we are constantly sold in the media. L.I.F.E. is an educational system designed for everyone out there in a diving global economy surfacing more and more deep rooted issues, and giving a solution to daily stresses. It is broken down into what has been called the “8 F’s.” The “8 F’s” are Faith, Family, Friends, Finances, Fitness, Fun, Following and Freedom, and the L.I.F.E. materials will be distributed into each of these categories for a foolproof system where we can easily recognize the materials in the areas we could use some new info. Again, I can not stress enough how I do NOT wish to sell you anything on my page, but this explanation was needed to understand the structure and breakdown and purpose behind it. My goal with this site is to break some of my learnings down into these same 8 categories through our experiences, materials we pulled information from and always deliver the source where the real genius lies. Kathlene and I are not the message or the wise, but only a product of the message. If I can help even one more family out there- maybe even one I don’t know yet- stay together, improve their finances or simply get some peace of existence back in their lives, then this website has totally served its purpose! I will have the site fully developed very soon, so come back and subscribe to my page on my home page.

Cheers and God Bless, Mike Gallant
